Attorney Joseph Goldstein will present a program to the group titled, "Employee Fraud, Theft, and Recovery."  Mr. Goldstein will focus his presentation on the topics of Hiring, Theft Investigation and Recovery, including a opportunity for Q & A.

Mr. Goldstein has significant experience in this area, and is familiar with the many steps that an employer has to immediately take when employee fraud and/or theft is discovered.  His presentation will also address the background legal considerations that an employer must consider when taking action against an employee accused of theft, as well as discuss additional and related topics including criminal prosecution, and tendering the loss for insurance coverage.

SPEAKERS:

Joseph Goldstein, Esq.

Joseph Goldstein is a member of The Goldstein Law Firm. Mr. Goldstein specializes in the areas of labor and employment law in both the public and private sectors, wage and hour class action and PAGA matters, business and commercial disputes, as well as discrimination, and harassment matters.

His recent matters include winning a denial of class status in a multi-million dollar wage and hour class action; successfully negotiating the buyout of a family-member who was a minority shareholder in a large family-owned, closed corporation; winning a denial of a writ of attachment against a large corporation.

Mr. Goldstein sits on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Delegation to the California Conference of Bar Associations.

Mr. Goldstein has authored three (3) statutes that have been passed by the California Legislature and signed by the Governor into law: AB 1850 protects children who witness acts of domestic violence but whom the law previously did not regard as victims of those crimes; AB 1738 allows home-owners in common interest developments the right to have counsel present in disputes with the HOA for the first time in California; AB 830 expands the definition within the gender violence statute to include and protect transgender individuals, and creates new protections for individuals based on sexual orientation.

Mr. Goldstein is a graduate of the George Washington School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with General Honors from the University of Chicago with a major in Modern European History. He received a Master of Arts degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Secondary School Social Studies Education. Mr. Goldstein was a John Dewey Scholarship award winner at Columbia University. Mr. Goldstein is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and the State of California. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, United States District Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, United States District Court, Central District of California and The United States Supreme Court.
