Summary of the Program Topics:
Benford's Law: Why and How to Use It
Benford's Law is used to find abnormalities in large data sets. In this session, learn why Benford's Law is useful and how to interpret the results it provides. Benford's Law is easily used and, best of all, not well known by fraudsters.
FCPA / Anti-Corruption Compliance Programs
The presentation will provide an overview of the regulatory environment and examples of recent enforcement cases. This will be followed by discussions on each of the elements of an effective FCPA / Anti-Corruption program, including risk assessments and red flags to consider. The presentation should cover areas that internal auditors would consider as they develop their internal audit program and procedures.
Fraudulent Financial Reporting & Ethics
* The Top 20 methods of overstating earnings
* The 3 major philosophical frameworks for the study of Ethics
This presentation alerts internal auditors to the signals that can be found in financial statements indicating that earnings may have been overstated. It also discusses helpful decision-making models for approaching ethical dilemmas.
“OK, You Think You’ve Found a Fraud. Now What?”
Uncovering evidence of fraud can be a highly emotional experience for victims. Reacting impulsively, they often commit critical errors that make learning the truth difficult or even impossible. Learn how internal auditors can minimize the impact of victim emotions, deal with victim mistakes and improve the outcome of fraud examinations.
Fraud Risk Awareness: Examining the COSO Proposed Changes of 2012
This topic will provide an overview of the COSO Framework Proposed Changes of 2012. Since there is an added emphasis on Anti-Fraud Efforts in the Framework, this session will highlight the Fraud Risks that management will have to address. This will be done through a discussion regarding Occupational Fraud and Abuse, Tools in Understanding Fraud, as well as an enumeration of what Auditors and Fraud Examiners can do to assist Management.
**NOTE**: At the end of our all-day event at the LA Athletic Club please join us at the LA Athletic Club Happy Hour that runs from 5 to 7 PM. You can unwind and continue to network with your colleagues while enjoying the sports bar with billiard tables and 10- inch HD television, reduced drink prices, and free chips with dip or salsa and free veggies.
