Bio: Julie Myers Wood is the CEO of Guidepost Solutions LLC, a leading investigative and compliance consulting firm. She previously served as the Head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the second largest investigative agency in the federal government. She also served as the Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement at the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) where she oversaw all Export Enforcement Special Agents and supervised all investigations relating to export regulation.  She also served as the Chief of Staff for the Criminal Division, as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York.

Remediating the AML Framework - A Tale of Two Banks

Drawing on real case studies, Ms. Wood will discuss the advantages of proactively building a remedial framework to combat money laundering and sanctions violations in terms of maintaining confidentiality and ensuring internal discussions and disagreements remain that way. She will contrast that case with a bank that was forced to remediate its AML and sanctions compliance programs in full view of the regulators by including them in internal stakeholder meetings and decision-making. Ms. Wood will further provide advice for maximizing proactive remediation efforts and how to demonstrate best practices to regulators.
